The History of Massad Ontario

MASSAD ONTARIO was founded in 1948 and closed its gates in 1977.

Massad Ontario was a mile down the road from Torrance, Ontario (in Muskoka) on Black Lake (and the water was black from minerals), off highway 169, between Gravenhurst and Bala. It had a small road by the train track hut called "Queens Walk Road", because Queen Elizabeth's train came through there when she apparently took a trip through Ontario many years ago.

At the end of every camp session, the camp was split into two groups for a "colour war" known as the Massadia, that lasted about 3-4 days, and consisted of athletic and drama competition, "ruach", art, etc.
